What should I wear?
In general, it’s best to go with a simple and tidy collar/neckline. Bring a few changes of top and make sure everything is clean and ironed if possible. In terms of colour I don’t mind too much, but avoid bright or distracting colours and any patterns that might draw attention away from your face/eyes. Bring a jacket or a hoodie (one ‘statement’ item, usually something with a more interesting collar) just in case we have time and want to shoot something a little more characterful. And make sure you’re comfortable in everything you bring –
Anything else you’d recommend?
If possible, try and get a good night’s sleep before your session. I do retouch final shots but it’s sometimes hard to hide a hangover, and you want to be feeling your best to look your best. If there’s a particular style of headshot you like, feel free to send examples through in advance, if not, you’re in safe hands letting me make those sort of decisions for you. If you’re looking for new headshots the chances are you’ve already discussed it with your agent, but if not make sure you’re on the same page about the sort of looks you’re going for.
Where are you based?
The nearest tube station to my flat/studio is Finsbury Park (Victoria & Piccadilly Line), and I’m about a 10 minute walk from the Wells Terrace exit.
Can I bring a friend?
I’d definitely advise against this as it tends to make people more self-conscious and often leads to ‘too many cooks’. And crucially it leaves fewer biscuits for us…
Do you work with a hair and make-up artist?
I do! I tend to advise against it for guys, but particularly for ladies with longer hair it’s often worth it. Headshot make-up is subtle and specific and I work with artists who know my work and understand how I shoot. Prices are £50 for prep-only (45 minutes for hair and make-up before the session) and £90 to stay throughout the session. Let me know when booking if you’d like to add a hair and make-up artist.
Do you require a deposit?
I require a £50 non-returnable, non-refundable deposit to be paid ideally by bank transfer to secure your booking. This is then deducted from the total fee, which is due within one week of digital delivery of the final selection. If you need to rearrange more than two days before your session there is no charge – the deposit will apply to the rearranged session.
